Cranston who plays Walter White in hit series Breaking Bad has long been linked to role in the sequel, which is also a crossover movie with Batman.
Cranston said on potentially playing the Superman villain "Give me a call. I like Lex Luthor. I think he's misunderstood. He's a loveable, sweet man".
Actor Mark Strong was also strongly rumoured to the role. The film thought to be titled Batman vs. Superman will release 2015.
