Top 10 Comic-Book Movies

10. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

From Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright Scott Pilgrim vs The World  is a faithful and exciting adaptation of the comic. The film had awesome fight scenes, funny dialogue and a good cast with Michael Cera starring as the title character.

9. Man of Steel

The recent reboot film of Superman done the most famous superhero in the world proud. Starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent the film follows Kent in his origin story as he fights the evil Kryptonian General Zod and must deal with the humans unacceptance of him.

8. The Amazing Spider-Man

Marc Webb's recent reboot brought Spidey back to the screen in incredible fashion. The film again tells the origin story of Spider-Man as he battles the evil Dr Curt Connors or The Lizard as he tries to destroy New York. The reboot feels much fresher than Sam Raimi's trilogy which has not aged very well

7. Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr.'s first solo outing as Tony Stark kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the successful Iron Man trilogy. The best of the three solo Iron Man films the first film follows Stark as he creates his trademark Iron Man suit and tries to stop his former ally Obadiah Stane from distributing weapons from Stark Industries to terrorists.

6. X-Men 2: X-Men United

With all the origin stories, introduction of characters and the 'mutant' premise out of the way X2 was free to hit the ground running. Widely regarded as the best X-Men film X2 relied on great set-pieces lifted straight out of the comic

5. Sin City

Sin City changed the way the comic book movie is perceived. The first R rated comic based movie the film garnered some controversy when released. The style and extremely violent nature made Sin City an extremely unique feature. With an all star cast with actors such as Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke and Elijah Wood the acting was superb and the story was incredible. With an upcoming sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For releasing next year let's hope the second instalment can match it's predecessor.

4. V for Vendetta

Another R rated comic book adaptation V for Vendetta is a highly entertaining flick and has had a great impact on popular culture with V's mask becoming a symbol of sorts. Hugo Weaving plays V a freedom fighter who is attempting to start a revolution in London against the fascist regime of Adam Sutler.

3.  Kick-Ass

Although the two previous films on the list were very good comic book adaptations Mark Millar's Kick-Ass mixes in the violence, interesting characters and great plot together with comedy. The film is much more fun to watch than the two previous films on the list and even spawned a pretty decent recently released sequel. Check out my review of Kick-Ass 2.

2.  The Avengers

The crossover film between some of the world's most famous super heroes was an ultimate triumph. The film sees Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk team up to defeat Thor's evil brother Loki who has used the Tesseract to unleash an evil alien army on New York.

1. The Dark Knight Trilogy

Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is by far the best Batman movie adaptations and each movie is probably the top 3 comic book movies. The Dark Knight is the best of the trilogy including Heath Ledger's sinister Joker but each movie brings something different and each of them are incredible.
